Air America Spins Its Decline

The liberals in America must be scratching their heads. They continually tell us that they can do better and that they have a plan. Their ideas are the best and they are only looking out for the good of the people (and the chirren). One would think that with so much to say and so many people believing they are the chosen ones that their followers would be flocking to get information. It would seem that no one is listening (or reading) what they want people to hear or see. Markos from the daily Kos web site released his book, CRASHING THE GATE, which is about the “progressive revolution” of blogs. He has sold 3630 of them. I don’t know how many copies of Unhinged Malkin has sold but I bet it was more than 3630.

Air America has so few listeners that they could turn off the transmitter and no one would call in to tell them it was off. They have fewer listeners in a day than Limbaugh has in a 3 hour stint. If Air America were an airlines they would be getting government hand-outs to get out of bankruptcy. But only Air America could put a spin on their dismal numbers. Here is the skinny:

During PM drive, host Randi Rhodes plunged to 27,900 listeners every quarter hour, finishing 25th place in her time slot, down from 60,900 listeners every quarter hour in the fall.

A network source says the radio ratings released today do not reflect the overall growth of the broadcast.

“The demos are better, and listeners trust AIR AMERICA to give them the real truth on issues and the Bush presidency,” says the insider.

They are right about one thing. The drop from 61k to 28k does not reflect overall growth of the broadcast. It does not reflect growth at all. This is dismal. Their listeners, all 28 thousand of them, trust Air America to give them the real truth, as opposed to what, the fake truth? They are pathetic and perhaps their failure to realize what decline actually is contributes to their delusions. They could probably save money by renting a stadium and putting 28 thousand people in it and just using the loudspeakers (or talking loudly). Think of the overhead they would save. In fact, they could probably use Tampa Bay stadium during the Devil Rays games. That would be about the right size audience for this pathetic excuse for a radio station.
