About My Emailed Posts

This is a quick post to inform every person who gets my blog posts via email that I have been notified by my provider that they received complaints that I was spamming people.

I demonstrated to them that my email sign up system is a double opt in which means that a person has to sign up with an email and then confirm that sign up by clicking a link in an email sent to the sign up address.

They were satisfied that my system is double opt in and has a mechanism to allow people to be removed from the emails. I also include instructions on how to be removed at the end of each post.

They were also of the impression that someone was not happy with the content and decided to report it as spam rather than unsubscribe. I have removed a person who fell in that category but I wanted to post on this to ensure you still want to receive the emails.

If you do not want them please click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email you get and follow the instructions. If that does not work or you have a problem please email me and let me know to remove you and I will be happy to do so. I will need you to provide the email address that is receiving the post notifications.

Rest assured that I did not add any names to my database and that I did not spam anyone. All email addresses were entered via the form on the front page (except some family members who were entered by me, with permission) and that someone had to confirm the registration.

Thanks for your time and have a nice day.

Sounds to me like someone forgets that we have free speech in America.

Well, if they had not signed up they would have a valid point. But every person in the database signed up (except for a few family members) so there should be no complaint.

They certainly should not be spammed but if they sign up it is not spam.

Yes we have free speech but it stops being free if it is imposed on someone because we also have a right not to listen.

I can’t blame them for not wanting spam but I can blame them for signing up and then complaining.

Was it a person or was it just triggered by some automated system that reported it as spam? The automated thing happened to my mother a few weeks but but she too was able to convince her ISP that it was not actually spam. I guess lots of people might report it just because they hate what you say. The Internet is full of a lot of douchebags…

My provider clearly indicated they got several complaints. I would not have an issue if I added them without consent but they signed up.

Anyway, my provider seems happy with what I have in place and they said that they believe it was someone who was unhappy with me.

The funny thing is, all someone has to do is say that they do not want it. If they are unable to unsubscribe I would be happy to take them out of the database.

They obviously weren’t interested in doing things the right way then, only being immature.
