How Is That Liberal Movement Coming Along?

Looks like Howard Dean is fairing as well as head of the DNC as he did as a Presidential Candidate. In other words, it might be time for Dean to make an unceremonious exit from the lofty perch he has held for a few months now. Seems that Dean is just too far left and way too bonkers for the moderates of the country and he has not done well in the one area in which they expected him to excel. This is an email article I got from News Max. I think it about says what most people have felt for sometime now.

We keep hearing chatter from Democratic circles in Washington that Howard Dean’s days are numbered as head of the Democratic National Committee.

Dean’s pitiful performance on Tim Russert’s show in May did little to help his crumbling position.

But the key reason Dean won’t last another year at the DNC is money.

New figures reveal that Dean has done a woeful job of raising money for the party since he became party chief.

After essentially matching the Republicans in fund-raising in 2004, the Democratic National Committee raised $14.1 million in the first quarter of 2005, while the Republicans raised $32.3 million, according to the Federal Election Commission.

Dean attracted about 20,000 new donors, but the Republican National Committee picked up 68,200.

And much of the new Dean money, Washington insiders say, came from John Kerry’s backing after Dean took the DNC position. Kerry sent out an email urging his email supporters to give to the DNC.

The majority Republican party now has $26.2 million in the bank, compared to just $7.2 million for the Democrats.

“Given Dean’s 2004 run as a populist crusader, moderates were never wild about his takeover of the Democratic National Committee. So some big donors are sitting on their wallets,” Business Week reports.

Dean appears intent on raising money through small-time contributors and has made little effort to reach out to major corporate donors, according to insiders.

“Howard Dean is the wrong person to be chair,” declared real estate developer William W. Batoff, a longtime Democratic fund-raiser, who says he will boycott the DNC as long as Dean is in charge – which given his fund-raising troubles, might not be as long as he’d hope.

Another problem for Dean is the Clintons. They control the Democrat money machine – and they absolutely despise Dean.

Hillary has reshaped her image to a party moderate, and Dean appeals to the ultra-left.

Dean has become a key member of the Gang of Four – the leading Democrats who want to stop Hillary’s 2008 presidential bid. The three other members of the Gang are Al Gore, John Kerry and Ted Kennedy.

  1. And of course NewsMax is a reliable, nuetral source.

The way I see it, if they talk about him, he must be effective.

Reliable probably, neutral no. But you don’t hear much about them stepping in it either.

Dean is on his way out. He won’t last because the Clintonista gang does not like him. He will be out or found belly-up somewhere.

I wish the DNC chairman were like a federal judgeship. I want Howard Dean appointed for life. Honest. Swear I do. I want him there and then a clone of him, and then a clone of that clone. I love Howard Dean as head of the DNC. It proves God’s love to me. It also proves, God is a Republican.

I agree. I like what Dean is doing now. It will take a state by state battle to get back in the game. We may not win in 2006, or 2008, but eventually the base will be rebuilt and that’s what matters. However, 2006 is starting to look more sweet as the Republicans piss away all their glory.

    Big Dog:

Dean is here for a while. The Clinton’s don’t have to force Dean out just because they don’t like him. But then again, everybody says Hillary is going center, and that the Clinton’s hate Dean, and it’s a lie that Hillary is going center, so why should the Clinton hates Dean idea stand up any better? Just because everybody says it, doesn’t make it true.

    What flavor is that kool-aid?

I admit though, this recent Dean quote is pretty bad:

“You know, the idea that you have to wait on line for eight hours to cast your ballot in Florida — there’s something the matter with that. You think people can work all day and then pick up their kids at child care or wherever, and get home and then have a — still manage to sandwich in an eight-hour vote? Well, Republicans, I guess, can do that, because a lot of them have never made an honest living in their lives. But for ordinary working people, who have to work eight hours a day, they have kids, they got to get home to those kids, the idea of making them stand for eight hours to cast their ballot for democracy is wrong.”

  6. Big Dog says:

The quote is just another in the famous Dean flame outs.
It interesting that he would say such a thing. He is a politician so how can he claim to make an honest living?
Dean is a fairly wealthy man. For him it is 3 hours in the office, a few at the country club then the nanny picks up the kids and makes them dinner…..

    He will dry up.

Dean does flame out, but I think his leadership overall is strong and his direction for the party is a good one. We can only wait and see. Midterms are right around the corner.
