Schindler’s List

By now you are aware that Terri Schiavo has succumbed to her death sentence. The last seconds of the clock were ticking off when the Schindler’s final appeal was denied. The family gathered in Terri’s room to spend the last precious moments with her as she descended into the chasm of death. The family that has been with her through all her troubles was determined to be with her until the end. That is until Terri’s estranged husband committed a cruel and heartless act. He would not allow the family to be with Terri when she died. It was not enough that this ignorant excuse of a human being took the Schindler’s daughter away but he also denied their wish to be with her when she died. He also, in effect, ensured Terri died alone. There is a place called Hell. In Hell there is a cellar and in the cellar is a dungeon. In that dungeon is a crawl space and in that crawlspace is a hole. In that hole is a rock and under that rock, deep in the bowels of Hell is a place reserved for the waste of flesh known as Michael Schiavo. The Schindler’s asked that no violence be taken against those who caused Terri’s death. They might be forgiving but you can bet Michael Schiavo has made it on their defecation roster. You might say he has made the Schindler’s s**t list.

Interestingly, the Doctor known for assisted suicide, Jack Kevorkian, is in jail for helping people carry out their wishes to be assisted in ending their lives after being diagnosed with a terminal condition. It seems a doctor is not allowed to assist a dying person in speeding up that process. A judge however, can assist a person, willing or not, by using the law to kill them.

The legal case against Kevorkian was, of course, watertight because his video clearly demonstrated the process of injection. There was no question but that he was guilty in the eyes of the law. The law does not accept that a person can ask to be killed – as Tom Youk clearly did. It is still ‘murder’ legally. So, in an attempt to persuade the jury that his action had not been ‘murder’ but a justifiable act of mercy, Kevorkian defended himself. He sought ‘jury nullification’ on the grounds of humanity— something a lawyer may not do.

Another interesting thing to think about. As much as I don’t want this to be a political issue, it is. There are many on the left who think that the courts have spoken and the law was upheld. I know it is hard to believe that the left actually cares about court decisions but it appears that they do. They are telling us, and I have seen them on the talk and news shows, that the judge was right and whether we agree or not we must follow the court. I have a question. Are not these the same dim wits that refused to acknowledge George W. Bush as the legitimate President because a court “gave” him the election? You all remember, GWB won the electoral votes and then Al Gore contested Florida and filed a law suit. This became protracted and the courts finally decided that Bush won all the recounts and was President. All during his first term we had to put up with the illegitimate president slogans and that the court was wrong or should not have decided. Well I have one thing to ask the lefties who have been crying all this time. Now, will you shut the hell up?

Surfside and I disagreed on this issue though we did so with respect and civility. I join with her and everyone out there in praying for the soul of Terri Schiavo and for her grieving family. I also pray for Michael Schiavo because he is going to need all the help he can get under that rock in Hell.

Hey, don’t lump all liberals in with the ones who obviously had an ideological motivation for Terri Schiavo’s death, the one-size-fits-all right-to-die case. Sen. Tom Harkin, Jesse Jackson, Ralph Nader and nearly half of voting House Democrats supported Terri’s life. The fault lines on this issue are not typical. It would be great for life-affirming Republicans and Democrats to join together and give a big middle finger to the others in their parties.

It is a shame that I feel the neccesity to paint all liberals with the same brush but when I read the more liberal blogs it is evident that they fell on the side of the husband in this issue and neglected the life aspect of the situation. There were many conservatives who felt the same way but the majority of the blogs I have read sided with the Schindler’s on this one.

You are right about the democrats who showed up for the vote but that is the key. Many stayed away from the issue thereby approving the death sentence in abstentia.

I do agree with you about life affirming members of both parties sticking together on this issue. I truly hope that this awakened the public on the importance of a living will or medical power of attorney.
