Honors For The “Psych” Ward

Joel Mowbray from Town Hall has written piece on Ward Churchill. A lot has been said about this leftist whacko professor who wrote an essay about 9/11 in which he labeled 9/11 victims “little Eichmanns”. Here is a quote from Mowbray’s column:

The media was quick to describe Ward Churchill’s 2002 essay—where he also wrote of the “gallant sacrifices” of the “combat teams” that killed almost 3,000 Americans—as “little noticed.” (USA Today, February 9) It was, however, noticed—and honored—by a liberal organization last year.

The Gustavus Myers Center honored Churchill for the essay. This made the third time the organization honored him. It might seem like this is a leftist whacko organization but Mowbray points out where they get their money. Here is a list of sponsors:

  • NAACP
  • The Urban League
  • The Center for Democratic Renewal
  • The United Church of Christ
  • This is a list of organizations that fund those sponsors:

  • George Soros’ Open Society Institute
  • The Ford Foundation
  • The Public Welfare Foundation (which contributed to the anti-Bush America’s Coming Together)
  • This should really come as no surprise because all these places are pretty liberal. It is an interesting article and you can read it here.

FWIW, I think Ward Churchill got his Indian “Credentials” the same way John Kerry got his medals.
